Social Concerns
![]() Although members of St. Augustine Parish have a long history of performing works of mercy (as individuals and through organized group activities), the Social Concerns Ministry has been formed to coordinate and expand these efforts throughout the parish. Social Ministry focuses on identifying needs both within our parish family and in our surrounding community. Beyond identifying physical, emotional and spiritual needs we need the ideas of all parishioners to organize programs and to create volunteer opportunities. Programs that are somewhat of a tradition include: the Food Pantry, School Supply Collection for the Don Bosco Children's Center, Linus Blanket Project, Advent Collection of Gifts for Nursing Home Residents and the Lenten Baby Shower for the Pregnancy Care Center. ![]() Recently efforts have begun to reach out to involve and to serve senior members of our parish. Volunteers are needed to develop these programs, but we also hope to plan activities for all parish members. We are aware that many of our young members are actively involved in social ministry efforts. Bright ideas are always welcome. To contact Wanda Knepper by email click here. |
